The Club

Our spacious ballroom accommodates up to 200 guests, making it the perfect venue for weddings, corporate events, and special gatherings. The 19th Hole Bistro provides a relaxed atmosphere, ideal for unwinding after a round of golf or enjoying casual drinks with friends. The club's hand-crafted menu strikes a delightful balance between beloved classics and exciting new dishes. Our History

  • 1817 – Lord Selkirk by treaty with the Indians obtained for the Hudson Bay Company all the land adjacent to the Red and Assiniboine Rivers extending back from the bank on either side for the distance you can see under the belly of a pony.
  • 1851 – Herbert Sabine and John Lonsdale arrived by canoe from Montreal and surveyed the river lots for the Hudson Bay Company.
  • 1860 – Lot 7 of the Parish of Headingley was granted to Sabine and Lot 8 to Lonsdale.
  • 1937 – John McMahon purchased Lot 7 from the Sabine estate and farmed the property for 20 years.
  • 1956 – A bulldozer moved the first earth for Breezy Bend just in front of the 14th tee on August 27.
  • 1956 – In October, John McMahon purchased Lot 8 and decided to make Breezy Bend 18 holes.
  • 1960 – Breezy Bend Country Club opened for business as a public golf course.
  • 1961 – A meeting was held in the McMahon house across from the course for the purpose of selling Breezy Bend and turning it into a private golf course.
  • 1969 – The Manitoba Open was held at Breezy Bend for the first time and was accompanied by heavy rains.
  • 1972 – Golf course architect Geoffrey S. Cornish of Amherst, Massachusetts surveyed the course and proposed a long-range plan for the development of Breezy Bend.
  • 1975 – The Manitoba Open returned to Breezy Bend.
  • 1979 – Breezy Bend played host to the Canadian Junior boys Championship.
  • 1981 – The third Manitoba Open was held at Breezy Bend and was highlighted by a course record of 64 by legendary Canadian golfer, Bob Panasiuk.
  • 1982 – A new green was constructed on hole 16.
  • 1984 – The old steel piped underground watering system, the first in Winnipeg, was finally replaced with the present modern irrigation system.
  • 1987 – Demolition of the original clubhouse took place.
  • 1988 – Present clubhouse and pro shop construction was completed.
  • 1991 – Breezy Bend once again hosts the Manitoba Open.
  • 2000 – Renowned local golf course architect, David Grant, completely redesigned and reshaped holes 12 through 14 further enhancing an already challenging back nine.
  • 2001 – Breezy Bend Country Club celebrated its 40th Anniversary.
  • 2004 – The Canadian Mid-Amateur Championship was held at Breezy Bend.
  • 2008 - Construction began on a significant clubhouse site renovation project in aimed at improving the first impression of Breezy Bend Country Club. Included were new tees on the 1st and 10th holes, a new re-located forward tee on 1 and a new expanded interlocking brick patio.
  • 2009 - Course construction continued when the somewhat benign 2nd hole was completely changed with a new green and water hazard being built. Fairway and greenside bunkers were also added, making the hole much more challenging.
  • 2011 - The tee to green cart path network from the 1st tee to the 18th green will be completed.
